The visitors arrived at the UNESCO World Heritage Site on the morning of Friday, the first day of the 2018 lunar new year. 60,000 foreign visitors, mostly from South Korea, China, North America and France, have registered to tour the famous bay during the 5-day Tet holiday. Ha Long Bay, in the northern province of Quang Ninh, was twice recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site, in 1994 and 2000. In 2012, New 7 Wonders Foundation named the bay as one of New Seven Natural Wonders of the world.

The Hanoi Times - 386 tourist ships carrying 4,900 passengers, including 3,700 foreigners, left Bai Chay tourist wharf in the northern province of Quang Ninh to Ha Long Bay, a UNESCO-recognised World Natural Heritage site, on the first day of 2009. The tourists on the Costa Allegra are mainly coming from China, Italy, Japan and the Republic of Korea. This is the first time the cruise ship of the Costa Crociere S.p.A to dock at the Ha Long Bay and the fourth to Vietnam.
