There has been an increase in the number of foreign tourists arriving that has coincided with the Lunar New Year in Vietnam. According to Saigontourist, on February 8, cruise ship Celebrity Constellation arrived at Tan Cang Cai Mep Port in Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province, bringing 2,500 visitors from different countries, including the UK, France and the US. Foreigners watching the way to wrap traditional Tet Cake Earlier, the ship also came to Da Nang for visitors to see the city and several other localities in the central region. The tourists will visit HCM City and My Tho City in Tien Giang Province. Saigontourist said that they are expected to serve a total of around 34,000 travellers who come to Vietnam by sea ahead of and during Tet. They will be transported by international cruise ships such as Glory Sea, Celebrity Constellation, World Dream, SuperStar Gemini, Celebrity Millennium and Mariner of the Seas. Many travel companies have focused on tours to provide real Tet experiences. Fiditour has organised a Tet tour for a group of Polish visitors. There, they have a chance to wrap Tet cake by themselves, write calligraphy and enjoy Vietnam’s traditional food for Tet. The number of foreign arrivals saw a rise of 6.3% compared to July and a year-on-year increase of 34.4%. The inflow of visitors from the Asian market recorded highest surge, with a 39.6% increase compared to the same period last year, followed by Europe with 24.7%, America with 13.8% and Africa with 12.4%. The GSO reported that more than 6.4 million international tourists visited Vietnam in the first eight months, up 25.4% over the same period in 2015. The number of foreign arrivals is predicted to surpass the set target of 6.5 million this year due to the current robust growth in the sector, the Sai gon Giai Phong daily cited a report from the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism on November 28. The administration said that Vietnam's tourism sector is currently at its peak business season which lasts from November to March every year. Vietnam's largest cities plan to add around 1,000 new rooms each by the year end. Foreign arrivals in Vietnam continued to surge in May, and the hospitality sector in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City already has plans to prepare for more. Vietnam received nearly 973,000 foreign tourists in May, up 27 percent from a year ago, according to figures from the General Statistics Office. Hanoi (VNA) – More than 9 million foreigners visited Vietnam between January and November, up 25.4 percent compared to the same period in 2015, the General Statistics Office (GSO) has revealed. The 11-month record figure has already surpassed the entire year’s target of 8.5 million, the GSO said. In November alone, more than 926,000 foreigners arrived in Vietnam, 14 percent higher than last month and 25 percent higher than last November. Foreign arrivals in Hanoi are on the upswing again this year after a dip in April, according to the city's tourism department. Since the beginning of this year, 551,600 tourists have visited the city, a 12 percent year on year increase, the department says. Arrivals from Germany quadrupled to 104,900 from the same period last year, while those from China and France saw increases of 32 percent each, the Department of Sports and Tourism reported.
