Six pairs of foreign swans have been released to Hoan Kiem Lake in Vietnam’s capital of Hanoi in a pilot project to raise such birds locally. The swans, black and white, come from Belgium, and possess characteristics enabling them to adapt well to Vietnamese climate, Vo Tien Hung, director of the Hanoi Sewage and Drainage Limited Company, said on Monday. The firm has already formulated a plan to take care of and protect the birds from harm and theft, Hung added. The keeping of such a species is supported by local biologists, the director said.
