Vietnam kindle hopes at regional futsal champ after narrow win over Bahrain

Up against the strength of Bahrain, the Vietnamese team stood their ground and played their own game at a slow pace to limit the maximum the speed of their opponents. The Gulf team were also thirsty for points after drawing their opening match, so they also played with caution to ensure they didn’t concede. Bahrain’s captain Mohamed Al Sandi and Ali Saleh twice challenged Vietnam’s goalie Dinh Thuan in the first half but failed to net a goal. At the other end of the pitch, following several unsuccessful attacks, Vietnamese players combined to score two quick-fire goals in the last minutes of the first half. In the 18th minute, Dac Huy opened the scoring for Vietnam and Trong Luan widened the gap two minutes later with a powerful shot. The second half got underway with a Bahraini attack, giving Adel Marzooq a sight of goal which was only denied by the quick reflexes of Van Tien.
